Compulsory schooling

Upon turning 4 years of age, your child leaves the world of babies and starts attending school. No doubt an exciting moment for him or her!

Terre Sainte Primary school – The primary school for Coppet and surrounding areas covers the nine communes of Bogis-Bossey, Chavannes-de-Bogis, Chavannes-des-Bois, Commugny, Coppet, Crans, Founex, Mies and Tannay. It comprises 7 school buildings located in Chavannes-de-Bogis, Commugny, Coppet, Crans, Founex, Mies and Tannay. Each school has 4 to 16 classrooms and receives between 60 and 320 pupils.

Depending on educational requirements, all the pupils from the 9 communes are distributed across these schools mainly with a view to ensuring balanced class sizes. The distribution of children also depends on the premises available in each village. As it is not possible to guarantee a place for all pupils at the school in their village, pupils are transported every morning, midday and evening by school bus from their village to school and back.

At the end of the 6th year of primary school, the pupils of Terre Sainte then attend the Collège Necker until the end of the 8th year. As of the 9th year, pupils start their secondary education at the Rojalets high school. Both schools are located in the Coppet commune. Public transport is organized to ensure that children can get to the different schools. Each school also has a school restaurant that is under the responsibility of the commune.
